Statement of Faith
The Irish American Gospel Partnership (TIAGP) is not a church or missions agency, but exists to joyfully unite, resource, and support gospel-centered ministries across Ireland and beyond.
As we serve diverse churches, organisations, donors, and ministry partners, it is essential to clearly articulate the biblical convictions that guide our co-labouring, gospel work together. Our Statement of Faith is intentionally concise, designed to express the essentials of the historic Christian faith and to foster joyful unity within the broad evangelical family. We also honour and reference historic Christian confessions and statements as examples of the faith we seek to embody and promote.
We offer this statement not as a test of fellowship, but as a humble and charitable summary of our convictions, aiming to joyfully unite and encourage the body of Christ in our shared mission, as outlined in Matt 16:18.
1. The Scriptures
We believe the Bible, comprising the Old and New Testaments, is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God. It is the final rule for faith and practice, entirely trustworthy in all it affirms.
2 Timothy 3:16–17; 2 Peter 1:20–21; Psalm 19:7–11
2. The Trinity
We believe in one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Deuteronomy 6:4
3. The Father
We believe in God the Father, Creator and Sustainer of all things, who in love planned our redemption, sent His Son for our salvation, and adopts all believers as His children through Christ."
Genesis 1:1; Colossians 1:16–17; Ephesians 1:3–5; John 3:16; Galatians 4:4–6; Romans 8:15
4. The Person and Work of Jesus Christ
We believe in the full deity and humanity of our Lord Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, substitutionary and atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension to the right hand of the Father, and His personal return in power and glory.
John 1:1–4, 14; Luke 1:35; Hebrews 4:15; Romans 3:24–26; 1 Corinthians 15:3–4; Acts 1:9–11
5. The Holy Spirit
We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, who convicts, regenerates, indwells, equips, guides, and empowers believers for godly living and service.
John 14:16–17, 26; John 16:7–14; Titus 3:5–6; Galatians 5:22–23; Acts 1:8
6. Salvation
We believe that all people are sinful from conception, alienated from God, and unable to save themselves in any way. Salvation is entirely initiated by God, who draws people to Himself. By grace, God grants repentance and faith through the hearing of the gospel. Those who believe are justified, regenerated, and adopted as children of God through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Psalm 51:5; Romans 3:10–12, 23; Romans 5:12; Ephesians 2:1–9; John 6:44; Acts 16:31; Romans 10:9–10; Titus 3:5–7; John 1:12–13
7. The Church
We believe the Church is the people of God, the body and bride of Christ, and the temple of the Holy Spirit—one, holy, catholic, and apostolic—of which Christ is the head. Composed of all regenerated believers, the Church exists to glorify God by making disciples of all nations, proclaiming the gospel, and teaching God's Word. In local gatherings, believers worship, pray, practice fellowship, exercise discipline, and serve in love, mercy, and justice. Christ gives leaders and spiritual gifts to equip the saints and build up the body, so that the Church may bear witness in word and deed until He returns.
Ephesians 1:22–23; Matthew 28:18–20; Acts 2:42–47; Ephesians 4:11–13; 1 Peter 2:9
8. The Mission
We believe in the Great Commission to make disciples of all nations, proclaiming the gospel in word and deed, and seeking justice, mercy, and reconciliation in Jesus' name. The goal is Matthew 16:18, "I will build my Church"
Matthew 28:18–20; Acts 1:8; Micah 6:8; Matthew 5:13–16
9. The Return of Christ
We believe in the personal and visible return of Jesus Christ to judge the living and the dead and to consummate His kingdom.
Acts 1:11; 1 Thessalonians 4:13–18; Revelation 21:1–8
10. Christian Living
We believe that God calls His people to love Him with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength, and to love their neighbours as themselves, pursuing holiness, justice, and compassion in every area of life.
Matthew 22:37–40; 1 Peter 1:15–16; Micah 6:8; James 1:27; Matthew 5:16
11 The Future State of the Saved and Unsaved
We believe in bodily resurrection, final judgement, and the eternal blessedness of the redeemed in the New Heavens and the New Earth and eternal conscious separation of the impenitent from God in Hell.
Philippians 1:23; 2 Corinthians 5:6–8; Romans 8:11; 1 Corinthians 15:42–44; Revelation 21–22; Luke 16:22–23; John 5:28–29; Acts 24:15; Matthew 25:46; Revelation 20:11–15; 2 Thessalonians 1:9
Historic Creeds and Confessions: TIAGP stands in the stream of historic, orthodox Christianity.
While our own statement is intentionally concise, we affirm the core tenets expressed in the great ecumenical creeds:
The Gospel Coalition Confessional Statement
We also acknowledge and appreciate the theological depth found in historic confessions such as:
The Westminster Confession of Faith
The 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith
The Thirty-Nine Articles of Religion
Doctrinal Differences – Unity in Diversity: We do not require adherence to all these confessions, but we joyfully partner with churches and ministries that affirm the core truths of the Christian faith as expressed in these statements.
TIAGP's Statement of Faith expresses the essential doctrines to which we hold for fellowship and partnership.
We recognise that, within the Body of Christ, there are secondary doctrines or areas of differing emphasis. In keeping with our interdenominational posture, we invite all personnel, supporters, and partners to hold secondary doctrinal views with humility and charity and not allow such differences to cause controversy or division, for the sake of our shared mission to see gospel-centered churches planted and strengthened across Ireland.
We seek to "bear with one another in love, making every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace."
Ephesians 4:2–3; Colossians 3:12–14
"In essentials, unity; in non-essentials, liberty; in all things, charity.”
(Attributed to Rupertus Meldenius, 1627)
Our goal is not only to see new churches evangelised into existence, but also to encourage and support the planting and strengthening of gospel-centered churches within their own denominational, organisational, or associational families—honouring the rich diversity of Christ's body already present in Ireland.
